University of Edinburgh accredited as an Assayer

The University of Edinburgh has been accredited to assay Engagements against the IDEA Methodology, under the cipher EDI.

The Foundation has accredited the University of Edinburgh as an Accredited Assayer, authorised to test Engagements against the IDEA Methodology and to certify the result. Edinburgh holds the cipher EDI.

The accreditation followed assessment against the published Accreditation Standard, covering the competence of the assay team, the independence of the certifying function from any commercial interest in the work, and the records the Assayer keeps gate by gate. Accreditation is subject to periodic audit and may be withdrawn where the conditions cease to be met.

The first Engagements certified under the EDI cipher are entered on the Register, including work in energy network forecasting and pharmacovigilance signal triage. The widening of the roll of Accredited Assayers is a deliberate condition of the regime: no single body certifies the whole of the Register.
